4:o (c. 255x205 mm). 1 engraved frontispiece portrait of the author (some foxing to margin), 1 large folding engraved map (some foxing, small repair to folding), 15 engraved plates, of which 5 coloured, 6 leaves engraved music (complete, a few spots, offsetting from plates to text, 1 repaired tear to margin, the owl with a few creases, dampstains affecting the 4 zoological plates, mostly the corners).
Brown full calf with slight blindtooled decor to corners of boards, partly slightly worn, rubbed corners and some scratches, marbled edges. Text to volume II, page 167 - the end with dampstains /spotting to lower corner, sometimes affecting text and plates, 1 page with some pencil notes to lower margin. 2 volumes.

According to Bring two editions were printed the same year, this edition is the later one with the printer´s name on bottom of the title leaves and on the last page of each part.
