Large-folio. (2) ll., VIII, 428 pp.. (1), ll. 93 lithographic and engraved plates, one of which hand-coloured and 4 colour-printed, 15 lithographic and engraved vignettes, one of which hand-coloured.
Contemporary gilt half-calf, capitals and edges worn. Outer edges uncut, small section of outer upper corner of p. 205/6 torn, no loss. Minor browning, some spotting to text.

First edition. All published.
This work contains the specimens collected by the author in 1826/27 in Italy and Sicily: seals, reliefs, pottery, coins, paintings etc. The plates are variously after Arnout, Vauthier, Granger, Francesco Inghirami, Muret and L. Dupre.
