4to (237x175 mm.). 2 hand-coloured engraved title, 209 hand-coloured engraved plates engraved by Ignaz Albrecht, numbered 1-222 (lacking 16 plates, see below, first engraved title with slight spotting, small name stamp in lower corner, second title mounted with repaired loss to inner margin, some marginal repaired tears). 8 volumes.
Contemporary half calf, richly gilt spines with green labels, very worn, damages to spines and some corners, some minor worming, some inner joints split. Signature and minor notes by the former owner Ivan Klastersky, dated 1934 on the first free endpaper in all volumes.

Rare work of decorative plates showing flowers, plants and fruits. The first three volumes edited by Vietz, a physician from Vienna.
This fine work was published in 10 volumes with 935 hand-coloured engraved plates, together with a supplement with additional 100 hand-coloured engraved plates.
Provenance: Dr Ivan Klastersky (1901-1979), botanist and taxonomist in Czechoslovakia. He worked as a researcher in the National Museum in Prague. This work was probably bought by him in the 1930ies.
