Small 4:o. 137 chromolithographed plates (of 141?) with facsimiles of coins in gold and silver, explanative text on verso, and 1 leaf of text.
All loose in contemporary three quarter dark red morocco, slightly worn, richly gilt spine in six compartments .
The remarkable plates were created from molds of the coins themselves using "galvano-plastic casts".
