Somewhat worn contemporary calf, richly gilt spine in five compartments and red speckled edges. Tear in lower spine. Somewhat dampstained and spotted, signature on title.

Malthus was an englishman who helped the French army with explosives, mortars and mining. He was also an expert in the use of fireworks for entertainment and his early books were devoted to their use.
