Joseph-Alexandre Auzias-Turenne (1812-1870), French physician, expert on preventive treatment of syphilis by the model of variolisation.
Provenance: The Royal Academy of Sciences through a donation by Gustaf Retzius in 1919.
Gustaf Retzius (1842-1919), anatomist, ethnologist, and anthroprologist. Member of the Academy 1901-1919. Nominated to the Nobel Prize 23 times.
Married to Anna Retzius-Hierta, daughter of Lars Johan Hierta, founder of the still existing paper Aftonbladet and industrialist.
