Large folio. Engraved frontispiece and frontispiece portrait (the author, some foxing), 94 engraved plates (1 missing, foxed, some with more foxing, some dampstaining, 1 plate with small marginal tear).
Worn contemporary full redbrownish calf, goldtooled borders, inner dentelles, rebacked with brown goldtooled leather in seven compartments, damages at top and tail, partly cracks in the joints, 2 upper and 3 lower covers detached, all edges gilt. Foxing and spotting, about 50 leaves with hard foxing, about 30 leaves dampstained in the lower margin, 1 leaf with hole. Armorial bookplate for Charles Barkley. 9 vol.
Sold as a collection, not subject to return.
For the Boydell edition they founded a special type foundry and printer´s workshop.
