12:o. (32, including extra engraved title), (1)-638, (46) pp. Extra engraved title (close cut in outer margin, cut into plate in lower margin, with the text "Editio novissima" and printed "1654"). Contemporary brown full calf, worn, gilt border, cracks in the joints, richly gilt spine in five compartments, red edges. Close cut. Minor foxing.
The book is organized by chapters, with a single animal per chapter or related animals in a single chapter. The emphasis is on Bible animals but a wide variety of Greek and Latin sources are cited.
