Stencil. Orientation on news in the British press for Swedish readers. The Daily Review of the Press were began in the autumn of 1939 and, from february, 1942 continued by British Legation Press Review until the end of the war in 1945. For most part of the period they were edited by the press attaché Peter Tennant.
The content is mostly quoted newspaper articles and summaries thereof, but also speeches and declarations of leading allied military and political leaders. Also BBC foreign service broadcast schedules occur regularly. In contrast with the Germans, the allied nations had very limited means of distributing its newspapers to neutral Sweden. After the fall of Norway they had to rely on courier airplanes, who had to take a hazardous route from Scotland over the German controlled North Sea. The Press reviews therefore became an important source of allied information on the war to the Swedish opinion.
