First edition of this "Introduction to medical literatureAn important bibliographic work by Albrecht von Haller based on Boerhaave´s lectures and introduction to medical literature "Methodus discendi medicinam" (1726), is here completely re-worked and much improved and enlarged by his pupil Albrecht von Haller. The classified bibliography of medical books has been brought up from the original 500 to about 10,000 titles, and is remarkable for those sententious critical apercus for which Haller is so justly famous". His completion of Boerhaave´s "Methodus ..." (1751) contains many additions of a purely bibliographical nature - a 100-page listing of works on physics, ... 15 pages of works on chemistry, 95 pages of references on botany and pharmacy, and more than 300 pages of literature on anatomy and physiology. This is Haller´s first medical bibliography.
