Contemporary mottlöed calf, somewhat some cracks in the joints, gilt edges of covers, richly gilt spines in six compartments, vol. I with small damage at head, red edges. Some marginal dampstaining in the beginning of both volumes. Some damage to first endpapers in each volume. Bookplayte of the Hammer library. Library duplicate (withdrawn) stamp on first endpapers. 2 volumes.

Joseph Lieutaud (1703-1780), French physician. By 1750, he became a doctor in the royal infirmary, then a pediatrician to the Louis XV court, and eventually the personal physician of King Louis XVI. (Wikipedia).
