Contemporary brown half leather, slightly worn, somewhat faded gilt spines, green-yellowish edges. Half-title, title and first unpaginated as well as last three leaves in vol. II browned in the corners. Minor foxing. Old annotation and signature of Veit Wittrock on first endpaper, also signature of Magnus Fries 1968. 2 volumes.
Pritzel 8873*. First German edition of Historiae rei herbariae published in Amsterdam 1807-1808 (Pritzel 8866*, se item 6436 in the present catalogue).
Provenance: Collecta Friesia. Elias Fries (1794-1878), famous Swedish mycologist and botanist. His most important work was "Systema mycologicum" published in 1821-32, Thore M. Fries (1832-1913), Robert Fries (1876-1966), Magnus Fries (1917-1987), Robert Fries (b. 1952).
