Taken from a binding. First leaf after title darkened in outer margin and with the name A. Fornander written in lower margin. Some foxing. Printed on thick paper.
First edition. In this interesting work, the authors consider the origin of metals and gems (Chap. 1), the reasons for the erratic distribution of metals and gems throughout the earth´s crust (Chap. 2), and the kinds of metals and gems found i various parts of the world (Chap. 3).
The finely engraved title depicts a cross-section of a mine with shafts, machinery, and miners at work.
