Contemporary brown half leather, worn, gilt spine, lacks first endpaper. Some foxing and minor staining. Partly (contemporary or near contemporary) annotated in the margins. Signature on title of C. E. Bothen (the same hand as most of the marginal annotations). Interfoliated.
Soulsby 420. First edition. Lacking 4 plates.
Linné worked from the large herbarium which P. Herman collected on Ceylon and which is now in Copenhagen.
The "Nova Genera", describing 43 new genera, copied from the dissertation by C. M. Dassow (Soulsby 1469) are sometimes missing.
