Contemporary full calf, somewhat worn spine gilt with red label and raised bands, all edges red. Stain on front fly-leaf. Slight dampstain at end, partly near cut in upper margin. Book plate of Wilhelm Voss from Hamburg-Altona, inscriptions and private library stamp on title leaf.
Later edition.

An impressive Latin encyclopedia of the ancient and biblical world, with special emphasis on geography, poetry, and history.
First published in 1501 by Herman Torrentius in a small size, it was soon expanded, and in 1553 revised into a vastly expanded version by Charles Estienne.
