HERTTWIG, CHRISTOPH. Neues und vollkommenes Berg-Buch, bestehend in sehr vielen und raren Berg-Händeln und Bergwercks-Gebräuchen, absonderlich aber über 200. vorhin nicht edirten und ans Licht gegebenen Berg-Urtheln und Abschieden... Dresden - Leipzig (in Verlegung Johann Christioph Zimmermans) 1710.

4:o (303x189 mm.). (19), (1)-439, (1) pp. Title printed in red and black (close cut in lower margin). Partly close cut.
Later (early 20th century) brown half calf, somewhat worn, faded and spotted richly gilt spine in six compartmets, speckled edges. (bound by Hedberg). Some browning in upper margin or part at end. A few old marginal annotations. Some old overwritten signatures on title, signature of "ex libris Joh. Georg von Wirth... 1735" on title. Bookplate of Carl Sahlin.

Carl Sahlin (1861-1943), industrialist, writer on the science of mining and metallurgy.
He started his collecting as early as 1897 as a student of mining. Later he became head of the Ironworks part of the Stora Kopparbergs Bergslags AB (1893-1900), and then manager at Laxå Bruk. President of the Swedish Iron and Steel Works´ Association 1904-1928, delegate of the Swedish Ironmasters´ Association. He wrote extensively about mining and foundry history (also numismatics) and founded Bergslagets library and museum. He was also one of the founders of the Technical museum in Stockholm, to which museum he also donated his vast collections on mining and related history, including part of his library in 1933.
