Contemporary vellum with blindstamped spine and boards, with M*C*H*E and 1636 on front board, blue edges. Rectangular cut-out in top of front fly leaf. Owner´s signature of Carl Aurivillius, dated Uppsala 1783, and a later exlibris.
First edition. A second was published in 1634. The German philologist Pareus (1576-1648) wrote several books on Plautus. Carl Aurivillius (1717-1786) was a librarian and professor in oriental languages at Uppsala, and one of the foremost linguists of his time.
