Near contemporary calf bindings with richly gilt spines with brown and red labels, boards with inner and outer gilt bordures, all edges marbled (Riviere and Son). Volume XIII with crack in front hinge, about 8 cm, from foot. Light foxing in beginning and end of text. 25 volumes.

A very fine set of the important ninth edition, assumingly bound for H. Sotheran & Co about 1900-1910
