Contemporary full marbled brown calf, worn, upper cover almost detached, faded gilt spine in seven compartments, damages at head and foot, red edges. Last leaf with long tear andd holr in inner margin. Minor foxing. Bookplate of R. W. Bosanquet, Rock, Northumberland.

Soulsby 299, Hulth 23-24. This is in fact the 3rd edition, not the second, of Linnaeus botanical classification. "The starting point of modern systematic botany" (Garrison-Morton). With additions from Classes Plantarum (1738). First published in 1737.
