Engraved frontispiece portrait by Wil. Hole (damaged in left part, upper corner missing with small pictorial loss and lower corner missing with small pictorial loss and larger loss of text, lacks extra engraved title), titlepage within double-ruled border, with the poem titles arranged in a complex system of brackets, six separate divisional title-pages within double-ruled borders and woodcut printer´s device, woodcut initials, head- and tailpieces.
Contemporary brown full leather, worn, bumped corners, 2 mended holes on boards, crack in upper joint, rebacked, spine in six compartments, dark red edges, remnants of cut out endpapers. Some foxing and staining, some marginal discolouring from the edges, a few leaves with some inkstains. Signature on first endpaper "Hester Clarke Sier Brocke", old annotation on inside of upper cover.
First folio edition, first issue (before the correction of the misprint "Swethwicke).
Michael Drayton (1563-1631), English poet who came to prominence in the Elizabethan era, a friend of Ben Jonson, and William Shakespeare.
