First volume of 2. Paolo Giovio (1483-1552) was an Italian physician, bishop and collector of art. He wrote extensively about contemporary history, especially the Italian wars. He is alleged to have blackmailed those he portrayed, exaggerating traits of immorality if he wasn´t paid.
