Cornelis De Bruijn (1652-1726 or -27), Dutch painter and traveller. His second tour began in 1701, with a visit to Archangelsk. He then spent some time in Moscow, where he painted the portraits of Peter the Great´s nieces. In april 1703 he left Moscow, sailing down the Moscow, Oka and Volga rivers, eventually reaching Astrakhan. His travels took him as far as Java, from where he returned to the Netherlands via Persia and Russia.
