Folio. 368 x 245 mm. (4), L, (2), 351 pp. Engraved printers device on title. Red near contemporary long-grained morocco with gilt spine, boards with gilt meander frames, gilt inner and outer dentelles and all edges gilt. Blue silk doublures and pastedowns (Bozerian, gilt stamped on spine). Some wear. Damp in top margin throughout, eventually spreading to the 2 top lines of text. Small tear in top edge of front fly leaf and the 2 following. Renouard´s signed inscription, stating ´Cent quatrevingt dixieme, sur deux cent douze´, on rear of last printed page.
Graesse IV:2. Ebert 12354. Brunet III, p. 97. Printed in 212 copies, of which this is no. 190 (as stated by Renouard). Renouard used a 14th century manuscript for the first part. The book is begun with a life of Lucanus, followed by a bibliographical history, naming all known editions up to this one (including some bibliographical mistakes according to Ebert).
There were two Bozerian bookbinders, Francois and Jean-Claude, active in the first two decades of the 19th century.
