Frances Simpson (1857-1926) was the daughter of an English vicar. She visited the Crystal Palace Cat Show at the age of 14 and there she found her vocation. She wrote several books about cats, this arguably being the most influential and rather blatantly promoting the Persian (a race she bred and exported to the America). Privately she kept 3 Siamese cats, also presented in the book.
