Arnaldus de Villanova (c. 1240-1311) was a Valencian physician, translator of Greek-Arabic medical manuscripts and court physician at Aragon. Building on the Greek and Arabic authorities, his most famous work is the Regimen sanitatis ad regem Aragonum.

Schola Medica Salernitana was a late medieval medical school, whose importance for European medicine cannot be exaggerated, not least for its educational system and the purposeful translation and collection of medical manuscripts.
