Gustaf Retzius (1842-1919), Swedish naturalist, specializing in anatomy and histology. He began his work on the hearing organs with the in 1872 published "Das Gehörorgan der Knochenfische". The present work is a brilliantly illustrated synthesis of the field´s contemporary scientific knowledge.
