Engraved frontispiece (in volume I), 17 engraved plates, of which 5 folding, 6 folding engraved maps. One plate or map missing in volume II. Contemporary calf with gilt spines with newer red labels, all edges red. A few minor stains, but otherwise very clean copy. 3 volumes.

A compilation with extensive chapters on Iceland, Greenland, Spitsbergen, the North-East passage, Newfoundland, Japan, Eastern Tartary etc. The Spitsbergen part with many paltes and descriptions of its flora and fauna.

Seemingly appearing in different issues, with varying numbers of plates and maps.
