8vo (245x175 mm binding). With stories by Conan Doyle and many others, for example The Hound of the Baskerville, The Croxley Master, The Crime of the Brigadier, Playing with Fire and A Glimpse at the army.
Richly illustrated with woodcuts and other illustrations, advertisments etc., many full-page. Many illustrations of Doyle´s stories were made by Sidney Paget.
Red half cloth bindings. 32 volumes.
Many of the Holmes stories were published for the first time in this famous British periodical, for example The Hound of the Baskerville (August 1901-April 1902).
There are also many other famous stories published for the first time or early, like H. G. Wells, The first men on the moon, P. G. Wodehouse, Rough-Hew them how we will (1910), Doyle, The lost world (1912), Scott, To the South Pole. Captain Scott´s own story (1913).
Stories by Conan Doyle or articles relating to Sherlock Holmes appeared in over 280 issues of The Strand Magazine between March 1891 and March 1950.
The artist Sidney Paget illustrated all the Holmes stories to appear in The Strand from July 1891 until December 1904, but not all the Paget illustrations were incorporated in the first book editions.
