EDITED BY ERASMUS ROTERODAMUS. HILARIUS (PICTAVENTIS). Lucubrationes quotquot extant olim per Des. Erasmus Rot. haud mediocribus sudoribus emendatae, nunc denuo vigilantissima cura recognitae. Basel (in Officina Froibeniana per Hieronymum Frobenium ac Nicolaum Episcopium) 1535.
Folio (about 310x205 mm.). (24), 1-760, (12) pp. Title and last page with woodcut printer´s device. Some nice woodcut initials.
Contemporary German brown full calf over wooden boards, worn, two outer and inner roll-tooled borders in blind of medaillons and ornaments on both covers, initials "F R Q" stamped in gilt on lower cover, rebacked spine in seven compartments, some restorations, crack on upper cover, worming, 3 of 4 brass fittings present, lacks clasps. Some worming affecting some characters in first few gatherings (including title), throughout dampstained in upper inner margin, at end also in inner margin (last 100 pages). A few marginal annotations. Owners notation on title " Adscriptu est communi Bibliothecae ... Augustinentium Conventu Montismovilliensis Anno 1663" and one other on title, also 2 library stamps. Library stamp of Roman Kaczmar on inside of upper cover.

Erasmus´ first edition of the writings of St. Hilary (c. 300-367 A.D.) was first published by Froben in 1523, this being the second edition. St. Hilary was an eminent doctor of the Western Church and spent most of his time as bishop fighting the heresy of the Arianism.
