Worn contemporary blindtooled vellum, upper cover in upper inner corner and upper part of spine damaged (lacking vellum), new ties, spine in six compartments, later inner doublures and endpapers. Some marginal dampstaining. Front edge with inkstain in upper part, visible in marginal at end. Some marginal dampstaining, minor foxing. Signature in lower margin of title Johan Hammererus U. J. Dotor, engraved armorial bookplate of John Humfrey, Wroxham and Peter John Bruff. Also bookplate of Roman Kaczmar.

Relentlessly anti-catholic, often described as a history, it contains legends, folklore, prophecy (the Sybelline oracles) and a host of strange collected stories, religious and secular.
