8vo. 230 x 145 mm. III-XVI, 376 pp. Colour lithographed frontispiece. Illustrations in the text. 35 colour lithographed plates, 3 folding sheets of music. Rebacked contemporary full calf, yellow edges. In marbled later slipcase. Light foxing, a few minor stains. Tear in top margin of title, paper repairs pp. 247 and 375, tear in margin of plate at p. 321. Exlibris of Carl Trolle Bonde on front board inside.

A popular work which was translated into French. It was reprinted six times, last time in 1904, and numerous imitations appeared.
Printed the same year as the first edition.
