Small 4:o (about 193x146 mm.). (26), 1-218, (24, last blank), (2), 3-71, (1 blank) pp. Title printed in red and black, 4 engraved plates (all, some browning)., woodcuts in text.
Contemporary brown mottled calf, somewhat worn, on middle of covers the gilt supra-exlibris of Pierre-Daniel Huet, gilt edges of covers, gilt spine in six compartments, damages at head and foot, red edges., lacks first endpaper. Some browning, title and a few leaves harder. Signature of J. Y. Akerman on title from 1851, signature on inside of upper cover "A. W. Frankes from J. Y. Akerman".
Pierre Daniel Huet (1630 - 1721) was a French churchman and scholar, editor of the Delphin Classics, founder of the Academie du Physique in Caen (1662-1672) and Bishop of Soissons from 1685 to 1689 and afterwards of Avranches. (Wikipedia).
