Baron Francois de Tott (1733-1793) was a French military officer and diplomat of Hungarian descent. Involved in diplomatic and military missions to Crimea, his task was to incite the Crimean Tartars to rebel against Russia. He later played a major roll in the Russo-Turkish war of 1768-1774, where France actievely supported the Turkish side.
From the library of Swedish antiquarian bookdealer Björn Löwendahl (1941-2013).
