Original dark grayish brown bold-ribbed cloth, worn and partly faded, stamped in blind, centered on the front cover a clock stamped in gold whose hand points to the hour which represents the volume number,vol. II with some cracks in the joints, richly gilt spines, damages at head and foot, marbled edges, marbled inner doublures and endpapers with a red, blue and green hair-vein pattern. 3 volumes.

First edition in book form, originally a weekly periodical edited and written entirely by Charles Dickens from April 4, 1840-December 4, 1841.
Provenance: Sten Ringselle (1949-2017), Swedish antiquarian bookdealer who in 1992 opened his shop Antiquaria in Gothenburg.
