Head titel and part titles within woodcut historiated architectural border, profusely illustrated with mostly full-page woodcuts by Giovanni and Cristoforo Chrieger, Cristoforo Coriolano and others, after Andrea Palladio, printer´s device above colophon. Head title slightly browned, some minor spotting and slight repairs, slight worming to inner margin, manuscript note in Italian to lower margin. Inkstain to page 122-24 at the end, some minor staining and foxing. Upper margin to a few leaves slightly shaved.
Early 18th century full calf binding, (according to note on inside of cover bound in 1704 in Paris (Relié à Paris pour 1 1/2 ? le 13 Octob. 1704), partly rubbed and worn, gilt edges of covers, slightly warped covers, split inner joint, richly gilt spine in seven compartments and red title label, upper edge with damage, minor worming to lower part, red speckled edges. Bookplate of Säfstaholm, Sweden.

First edition was published in 1570, "the most studied of the architectural treatises of the Renaissance" (Millard).
