8:o (about 230x150 mm.). Title with lithograph vignette, 24 coloured lithograph plates (all) by Eric Ravilious.
Original pictorial paper boards, somewhat worn, spine slightly chipped at head and foot (lacks as usual the original glassine d/j with paper flaps). Gift inscription to first endpaper. Rare.

The plates depicts various shop fronts on the High Street.
The book was never reprinted because the original plates were destroyed in a bombing raid in 1942, in the same year as Ravilious, who was a captain in the Royal marines and an official war artist, was killed in action.
