A handsome production, including facsimiles of all the original plates by Robert Seymour, Robert W. Buss and "Phiz" (Hablot Knight Browne) in their rare first states, facsimiles of the original wrappers in first state, facsimiles of the original manuscript, the original prospectus, etc. Edited by John Harrison Stonehouse, who also provides an illuminating introduction on the origins and original publishing history of the work.
Loose in a contemporary black cloth box, somewhat worn.

With Dickens bookplate loosely inserted in part XX.

Provenance: Sten Ringselle (1949-2017), Swedish antiquarian bookdealer who in 1992 opened his shop Antiquaria in Gothenburg.
