1932 Lake Placid Winter Olympic Games Participation Medal, J.Kilenyi for Robbins & Co. Winged figure of Fame blowing horn, Olympic rings above, winter landscape in background. Reverse: Six winter sports.
This rare participation medal was issued to all Olympians that participated in the 3rd Winter games, hosted at Lake Placid February 1932. This was the first Winter Games in North America. The medal depicts a winged figure of Fame blowing into a long horn against and holding the lit Olympic torch in standing in a wintery landscape with the Olympic rings above. The reverse is inscribed "III Olympic Winter Games Lake Placid 1932," and features six shields of winter events, with scenes of curling and dogsledding below. The medal features a high relief strike with exceptional details.
