PHOTOGRAPHS OF JAPAN. 55 hand-coloured albumen prints of Japan, c. 1890, size about 195x250 mms. Almost all photographs with printed text and loosely inset on boards in an album. Most photographs with inventory number and typed caption label in English (some faded and with some foxing and wearing, a few with glue / paper traces to outer part or corner, 2 damaged with loss of image).
Almost all boards loose, margins with damages, foxing.
Album in oblong folio (about 280x360 mms). Contemporary japanese lacquer decorated binding with leather spine, partly worn and rubbed, all edges gilt. Together with a damaged cloth wrapper.

Photographs of landscapes, street and city scenes, temples, a.o. Kobe, Mount Fuji, Nagasaki, Hakone, Kyoto, Kobe, Tokyo, Nikko, geishas. Some photographes by A. Farsari.
