Later (20th century) vellum, somewhat worn, blank spine in five compartments, small damage at head, marbled edges. 4 leaves with larger mendings and textloss, partly supplied in facsimile (pp. 99-104 and 333-34), about 30 leaves with lesser mostly marginal mendings, partly dampstained in the margins, some foxing. Some older (19th century) marginal and other annotations.

The second Egenolph edition of De medicinali..., considered one of the most extensive and important editions to be produced. De medicinali... was the foundation of botanical knowledge until the early seventeenth century.
Pedanius Dioscorides (c. 40 - 90 AD), Greek physician, pharmacologist, botanist, and author of De Materia Medica -a 5-volume Greek encyclopedia about herbal medicine and related medicinal substances (a pharmacopeia), that was widely read for more than 1,500 years.
