8vo. 169 x 96 mm. 12, 316, (4), 385, (2) pp. Slightly worn green somewhat later half calf with gilt spines, marebled boards and red edges. A few minor satins, faint damp in lower margin in the beginning of volume I, worming in margin (top corner) pp. 371-end in volume II. Gold printefd initials on front boards, HL. 2 volumes.
First edition was published in Paris in 1770 under the name of Jean-Baptiste de Mirabaud, the former secretary of the Académie Francaise, deceased ten years previously.
