8vo. 200 x 124 mm. (2), XVI, XXXI, (1), 196 pp. 3 folding engraved plates. Brown later cloth with sparsely gilt spine and sprinkled edges (W. Heuman, Stockholm). A few minor stains, light foxing. Last leaf with loss of paper in top corner. Owner´s signature of Gadelius, Gösta Mittag-Leffler´s exlibris on front board inside.
Bring, Itineraria Svecana, 340, mistakenly names 4 plates. Jöns Svanberg (1771-1851), Swedish astronomer, geographer and mathematician. The expedition aimed at check the accuracy of the results of the Maupertuis-Celsius expedition of 1736-37.
Gadelius is probably Swedish physician Erik Gadelius (1778-1827), whose library was sold at auction after his death.
