This map is from the 7th edition of Ptolemy´s Geographia and the famous map of Scandinavia was first printed in Ulm in 1482. The German Benedictine monk Donnus Nicolaus Germanicus (dead 1486) edited twelve manuscript editions and the distinctive trapeziodal "Donis" is named after him.
Norway is shown on the map as "norbegia" and among the cities depicted are for example "asto" (Oslo), "begensis (Bergen), "nodrosia" (Nidaros = Trondheim). It also has the first printed depiction of Greenland. (William B. Ginsberg, Printed maps of Scandinavia and the Arctic 1482-1602).
