4to (293 x 226 mm). (8), 16 pp. 12 hand-colored lithographed plates by and after A. Hoffy, E. Quayle, and D. S. Quinton (not complete, of 60, some slight spotting), each with a tissue-guard accompanied with a leaf of text. Title spotted and foxed, some foxing and dampstaining to text.
Worn and damaged contemporary half calf with blue paper boards, damaged gilt lettered spine. Signature on first free endpaper, dated (18)94.
Not complete, only 12 plates of 60.
First edition. The first American journal completely devoted to fruit and its cultivation. (Oak Spring Pomona). Alfred Hoffy, a skilled lithographer, worked for several printers of lithography in Philadelphia, before he focused on his Orchardist´s Companion.
Sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return.
