8vo. 240 x 150 mm. xvi, 472, xii, 512 pp. Illustrated. 12 colour lithographed plates and 1 lithographed, partly in colour, map. Woodcut illustrations in the text. Later half calf with gilt spines, marbled boards with double gilt filets and marbled edges (G. Hedberg). 2 volumes.
Bring, Itineraria Svecana, 800. Kjellgren, Den svenska jakten i litteraturen 854.06. The first edition was published the same year. A Swedish translation was published in 1855. One of the best accounts of 19th century Scandinavian, mainly Swedish, peasant hunting and fishing, with many interesting ethnographical and zoological observations.
Provenance: Nils G. Ahlin (Ulriksfors, Sweden, owned the largest private book collection in north of Sweden, about 6000 volumes).
Erik Hallqvist, Östersund (born 1887, the grandfather of the current owner), had a bookshop since 1907. He bought Ahlin´s collection in 1942 and was interviewed in Östersund-Posten on January 28: "The public may have an idea of the size of the collection, when I mention that I needed 14 fully loaded taxis to get the books home".
