Small 4:o (about 248x164 mm.). 12 lithographs by Roux (" tirées en sanguine et rehaussées au crayon noir par l´artiste"). Original wrappers bound in.
Contemporary red half calf, slightly worn, marbled boards, gilt spines in six compartments, upper edges gilt, . otherwise uncut. Bookplate of Palle Helmer-Petersen. Edition printed in 90 (of 102) numbered copies on Hollande à la forme, de la maison Pannekoek de La Haye, signed by the artist, this is number 39. 2 volumes.
Stendahl wrote this autobiographical work in 1832, and he recounts his life in Paris and London from 1821 to 1830. The story remained unfinished and was not published unril 1892 by Casimir Stryiensky.
