Albrecht von Haller (also known as Albertus de Haller, 1708 - 1777) anatomist, physiologist, naturalist, encyclopedist, bibliographer and poet. A pupil of Herman Boerhaave, he is often referred to as "the father of modern physiology. (Wikipedia).
