8vo. (2), XX, 492, (2), XII, XV-XVI, 282, (2) pp. 2 engraved frontispieces, 20 engraved plates, of which 1 folding, 1 engraved illustration in the text. Worn contemporary calf with gilt spines with green labels and sprinkled edges. Hinges cracked in volume I. Offesetting from the plates, occasional minor foxing. Small dampstain in margin pp. 391-491 in volume I. 2 volumes.
Erasmus Darwin (1731-1802), physician and author, Charles Darwin´s grandfather. He sought to popularize sciences through poetry, but the notes are more like independent essays on their different subject-matters.
