TURNOR, EDMUND. Collections for the History of the Town and Soke of Grantham. Containing Authentic Memoirs of Sir Isaac Newton, Now First Published From the Original Mss. in the Possession of the Earl of Portsmouth. London (printed for William Miller... by W. Bulmer and Co.) 1806.

Large 4:o (about 320x245 mm.). (5), vi-xvi, (1)-200 pp. 1 handcoloured engraved map, 2 engraved plates, some text illustrations.
Contemporary marbled boards, worn, partly defective spine,slightly shaved upper edge, otherwise uncut. Partly foxed, title, first 4 and last 3 leaves harder. Armorial bookplate of John Hutton esq. Marske.

The six extra plates listed and separately issued are rarely found, and is also missing here,

Grantham is an English town in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire. Grantham is known as the birthplace of UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, for educating Isaac Newton at its King´s School, for producing the UK´s first female police officer, Edith Smith in 1914 and for producing the UK´s first running diesel engine in 1892 and tractor in 1896.
