This continental map of the USA in six sheets was published in the sixth edition of Stielers Hand-Atlas. A very intersting map published at the height of the classic western era, at the time when the settlers made their way into the Great Plains in great numbers. The frontier can clearly be seen at the map going through west Texas, eastern Kansas, Nebraska and along the border between Minnesota and the Dakotas. Most areas to the west are more or less white and to the east full of names of towns and settlements.
The Union Pacific line to the west coast has just been completed and is running through huge unsettled territories in the west. The line is clearly marked on the map, as well as all other main lines. Insets of Boston, New York, south Texas and south Florida.
A very detailed map of fine German standard.
